Q: WHY DID YOU CHOOSE HAIRSTYLING AS A CAREER?
A: I originally went to school to be a Pediatric Oncologist Nurse because I have a passion for helping others. However, I soon realized that I wasn’t able to feed my creativity in the way that I’ve always wanted to. Doing hair has always been a calming ritual for me, and one that challenged me creatively - so I decided to make it my career!
Q: IF YOU WERE AN ANIMAL, WHAT ANIMAL WOULD YOU BE?
A: I’m pretty sure I would be a snow tiger. No two are alike, they can travel in a group or be alone, and I feel like they are filled with deep intensity & focus.
Q: WHAT HAIR EDUCATION, IN THE PAST YEAR, DO YOU FEEL HAS FURTHERED YOUR ARTISTRY?
A: I really loved Blonde Chronicles. It helped me explore new foil patterns, and I was able to use those techniques to make my services even more customized to my guests. I’m also very interested in shadowing more stylists, both here at Lush, and at other prestigious salons. I enjoy shadowing so much more because I’m up close and personal - able to see everything better, which helps me a lot with my learning style.
Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF HAIRSTYLING?
A: Balayage is hands down my favorite part of hairstyling. I love it because you can control the outcome and it’s always so beautiful at the end. Balayage is pretty tedious and requires a lot of attention to detail and focus, but the payoff is so worth it. The majority of my guests are Balayage and I love it because it’s one of my biggest skill sets and I just know that it’s going to turn out stunning!
Q: WHAT ARE YOU MOST GRATEFUL FOR WHEN YOU WAKE UP IN THE MORNING?
A: I’m most grateful for the Sun beaming through my window. It’s the perfect way to start the day, with the sun shining on my face. My favorite days are when the sun is shining bright and I get to be outside in nature.
Q: WHAT IS IT ABOUT HAIRSTYLING THAT BRINGS YOU JOY?
A: Honestly, all my joy comes from getting to connect with my guests and seeing how happy everyone gets when their hair is finished. Getting to hear updates on their lives and about milestones or big events they’re celebrating gives me the chance to also celebrate with them while they’re in my chair!
And when they leave, I get to see them become absolutely obsessed with their hair. I think my favorite comment from a guest was, “I’ve never felt so beautiful”. That one really brought me joy.
